The Exceptional Some

“The disciple John said, “Master, we found someone who was casting out demons using your name and we tried to stop him, because he doesn’t follow you like we do.”

Jesus responded, “You shouldn’t have hindered him, for anyone who is not against you is your friend.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:49-50‬

They found someone who was SUCCESSFUL at casting out demons in Jesus’ name and tried to stop him because they were hating.

Who ordained that someone? Who commissioned that someone? Who taught that someone? Who did that someone study under? Who was this someone? Where did this someone come from? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Jesus knew who that someone was, and that someone obviously had what it took without following Jesus around for three years. He probably was a random in the “masses” like “Yup, I got this. I can do this. Easy.”

That’s how it goes sometimes. Everybody doesn’t need the same inputs to manage their outputs. Everybody doesn’t need a hierarchy. The exceptional some were called to do it without one.

  1. Gifts and talents! It’s too bad that so many people have the first response of being threatened by others with capabilities instead of celebrating them. Isn’t it awesome to watch superstars excel, to witness something like the Olympics? It’s incredible just to see what humans are capable of achieving.
