I Ran My First 15k And Here Is What Happened… (Told Through Pictures)

On April 16th, 2017 I ran in my first organized race of any kind since high school.

It was a 15k, which is about 9.333333333 miles.

My fraternity brother, fellow Chippewa and Saginawian ran with me. He actually invited me to run the race with him.

I began training for the race at the end of 2016…

…and lost over 20 pounds in the process.

The race was held at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY.

It was challenging…

…but fun.

We represented Alpha Phi Alpha – Rho Delta.

We represented Saginaw, MI.

We represented God.

We set goals and we finished.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9:24-27‬ ‭

We asked, “what did we just do?”

We replied, “we won.”
